The British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA) stands with zoo colleagues in Ukraine and joins the global condemnation of Russia’s invasion. As the horrifying war has continued, zoo professionals have remained dedicated to the animals in their care. This is testament to the passion of zoo professionals everywhere.
BIAZA is supporting the emergency appeal of the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EAZA) to direct help and funding to Ukraine’s zoos based on the needs of those zoos and facilitate the removal of zoo animals where possible. BIAZA has encouraged its members to contribute to EAZA’s efforts and the charity has made a £2,500 donation to the fund.
How can you help? If you would like to donate to EAZA’s appeal or to find out more, simply click here.
Like so many, BIAZA desperately hopes we will see a quick and peaceful end to the appalling war in Ukraine.
