In light of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic BIAZA is collating all resources to provide support so that our members can continue to deliver the highest standards of welfare to the animals in their care whilst considering people's health too.
Events
The BIAZA Annual Conference, planned to take place at Dublin Zoo 8-10 June, has been cancelled. We hope to have next year's conference at Dublin Zoo, dates TBC.
The Reptile and Amphibian Working Group conference, scheduled for May, has been cancelled and we recommend that all Committee or Working Group meetings scheduled before June are postponed or rearranged to go ahead online.
We will continue to assess the situation in relation to our many other Committee and Working Group conferences scheduled for later this year, and will update the events page with more information on these once available. If you need to update your event, please contact the office.
Office closure
As a precaution against the spread of COVID-19 the BIAZA Office staff will be following Government advice and working from home until further notice. This means it is likely you will not be able to reach anyone at the office by telephone and the office cannot currently receive post.
If you need to contact a member of staff, please do so via their email address (which you can find here: https://biaza.org.uk/biaza-office) or via [email protected]. If you have an urgent concern you can contact Nicky on 07789 038565.
Supporting the sector
We are aware of the seriousness of this situation and the potential impacts on the zoos and aquariums within our membership, as well as their staff and visitors.
We will continue to update our advice to members (available on the Members’ Dashboard of the website) and to provide helpful resources and forums for discussion wherever possible. If you have any issues accessing the Members' Dashboard please contact the office. We will continue to liaise with Government officials over the coming days and weeks to ensure that the needs of our community are considered whilst new policies are implemented to manage this situation.
We want to provide the best possible support so please get in touch and let us know how we can help. If you have any concerns or queries at all please contact us via email on [email protected]
This page will be updated as necessary with more information.
