For the first time ever, the BIAZA Research Committee are pleased to bring a selection of key content from the annual BIAZA Research Conference to online attendees through a remote registration option, LIVE.

Join attendees present in-person to watch and engage with:

  • The conference keynote presentation titled, The Lab in Collaboration: Conservation, Research and the EAZA Biobank, delivered by EAZA Science Manager Dr Ania Brown, covering advancements in biobanking and cryopreservation and how zoos and aquariums can continue to engage in this work. Tuesday 7th July 09:30 (GMT)
  • A panel discussion on global perspectives of zoo and aquarium science. Chaired by BIAZA Research Committee Chair Lewis Rowden, panel members will include science experts from other regions across the globe and discussions will cover key questions on challenges and opportunities for the work we do in modern conservation zoos and aquariums. All of this valuable content can be accessed for a subsidised registration cost of £5 per attendee.

Monday 6th July: Informal ice breaker at the Lexden Crown pub from 18:00. A limited menu will be available with options to cover dietary requirements (delegates are expected to purchase their own food and drink at the ice breaker event, limited parking is available).

 

Tuesday 7th July: Day 1 of the conference starts at the Colchester Institute, followed by an afternoon and evening at the zoo (including the conference social evening for delegates who have purchased the separate ticket at registration). Coach transfer to/from the zoo will be arranged as part of standard conference registration, with the return journey from the zoo to the Institute planned for around 22:00.

 

Wednesday 8th July: Day 2 of the conference takes place entirely at the Colchester Institute, with an expected conference end time of 17:00.
