This is a fixed term role until June 2026.

Here at Chessington, we are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Experience & Education Supervisor to join our Zoo team and play a key role in shaping the future of our educational and conservation efforts.

In this role, you’ll develop engaging educational materials, lead workshops and talks focused on conservation, and oversee the research programme in collaboration with students and departments. You'll also oversee the Work Experience Programme, ensuring smooth coordination with education providers and full compliance with health and safety guidelines.

Your role will involve leading outreach initiatives, such as BIAZA meetings, community engagement, and offsite school visits to promote conservation. You'll work closely with the Chessington Conservation Committee to implement meaningful conservation projects and ensure that conservation education is at the heart of all our efforts. Additionally, you'll manage signage, evaluate educational programmes, and tailor workshops to meet the needs of schools and colleges.

As a supervisor, you'll lead Zoo Team Leaders and Hosts to maintain high standards of service and presentation across the zoo, while ensuring the safe operation of attractions and compliance with health and safety regulations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 2 years management experience
  • Experience teaching a wide variety of key stages/ ages
  • Understanding of Zoo Licensing legislation
  • Understand and demonstrate outstanding customer service
  • Proven ability to mentor and lead a team
  • Two years’ paid experience in a zoo/animal attraction
  • Experience in public speaking, education or similar
  • Experience in a supervisory role

Whilst we do not require any formal qualifications or experience for this role, the following would be desirable:

  • Experience teaching in a formal setting, knowledge of schools’ curriculum requirements.
