Where's Harvey?

Jamie Baker

The BIAZA’s Harvest Mouse Focus Group, which works to support BIAZA members in boosting welfare for harvest mice, is now partnering with the UK Mammal Society to launch this new conservation campaign.

With a core aim to bring all hands on deck to survey harvest mouse nests, the BIAZA ‘Where’s Harvey’ campaign will enable impactful conservation of this elusive native species. With the knowledge and experience of BIAZA staff/volunteers alongside the UK Mammal Society, participating BIAZA zoos and aquariums will be able to support their harvest mouse nest surveying project in Great Britain. BIAZA members based outside of the mainland GB will be able to contribute their nest surveying data through Spotted on Site.

Why Join?

This campaign presents a fantastic opportunity for conservation upskilling for BIAZA staff, enabling them to contribute to impactful local and national conservation efforts.

Members will be providing important wild harvest mouse range data across the UK, specifically increasing input into the Mammal Society’s national harvest mouse nest survey within GB, and also contributing nest survey data via BIAZA’ Spotted on Site.

Our collaborations, including iconic illustrations from the creator of Where’s Wally (courtesy of the Wildwood Trust) have brought forth numerous resources you can use.
